1.  How do I edit my VIP Profile?

Go to https://www.vip.vetbiz.gov/Public/Logon.aspx.  Login to your profile, make your updates, and hit the update button at the bottom of your profile.

2.  How long will my profile be visible?

Your profile will be visible as long as you maintain verified status.  As of June 27, 2012 each profile must be updated at least once every two years.

3.  Why has VA removed my company from VIP?

Your firm has been removed from VIP if your application was denied Verification or you did not respond to previous requests for required documents.  Your business is now ineligible to participate in Veterans First Contracting Program opportunities with VA.  You may apply for Verification, but your application package is not complete until all required documentation is submitted.

4.  My VIP profile has been deleted. What do I do now?

Submit an email to the Vendor Information Pages (VIP) (vip@va.gov) for further assistance. Please include the following information: Company Name, Company DUNS number, Veteran Owner’s name, and the Email address that was used to register in VIP.

5.  Does the Center for Verification and Evaluation (CVE) share the findings of the Site Visit Report with the Veteran owner?

The Site Visit Report is used to ensure that companies listed in the Vendor Information Pages (VIP) database are in compliance with 38 Code of Federal Regulation (CFR) Part 74.  The Center for Verification and Evaluation (CVE) will notify the Veteran via email with the results of the Site Visit Report; this will indicate if the company is in compliance with 38 CFR Part 74 or if there are findings that could result in non-compliance with these standards.

6.  How might a Veteran register their company in the VetBiz database and incorporate the "Doing Business As" or "Trading As" so that these designations appear on the company profile?

Companies verified in the VetBiz database must use, at a minimum, their state registered name (i.e. found in Articles of Operation and Articles of Incorporation).  A company may use a “Trading As” (TA) or “Doing Business As”p (DBA) in addition to the state registered name, but the primary reference to any company must include its state registered name.

7.  My business structure has changed. Do I also have to change my DUNS number?

Every change is evaluated on an individual basis.  CVE does not assign DUNS numbers.  DUNS numbers are assigned by Dun and Bradstreet.  If a company wishes to change the DUNS number listed on its VetBiz Vendor Information Pages (VIP) profile, then the company will have to create a new profile and submit a new application using the new DUNS number.  The company will also have to submit all required documents and information to CVE, including the information concerning the new business structure, for verification purposes.

For more information please see the Change in Business Structure Fact Sheet.

8.  May a company have multiple DUNS numbers?

Yes, but the company’s VetBiz profile will only recognize one DUNS number.  This does not, however, prevent a business from acquiring as many DUNS numbers that it finds necessary to conduct its business.  For more information please see the Change in Business Structure Fact Sheet.

9.  If I have more than one DUNS number, am I able to change the DUNS number listed on my profile?

If a company has more than one DUNS number and would like to change the DUNS number listed on the company’s VIP profile, the company will have to create a new profile and reapply for verification.  All information associated with the DUNS number listed on the company’s current profile will be retained under that profile.  The company will also have to submit all required documents and information to CVE for verification purposes in conjunction with registering the new DUNS number.

For more information please see the Change in Business Structure Fact Sheet.

10.  Is Vendor Information Pages (VIP) linked to self-certifying databases with the Small Business Administration (SBA) or System for Award Management (SAM)?

VIP, which is maintained by CVE, is not linked to firms that self-certify with SBA or register with SAM. Some small business owners incorrectly believe that self-certification with SBA or registration with SAM automatically qualifies their firm for designation as a Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) or Veteran-Owned Small Business (VOSB). Additionally, some small business owners believe that a firm self-certifying via other federal entities automatically qualifies their firm to be listed on VIP. This is not the case.
