The Picture of Resilience: Women Veterans Overcoming Homelessness

On a given night in 2023, nearly 4,000 women Veterans went to sleep without a safe place to call home. But thanks to diligence, perseverance, and the strength to ask for help, the women featured in the stories below are not among them any longer.

These Veterans have faced and risen above challenges that are more common to women, including finding housing with children, overcoming military sexual trauma, and more.

At VA, we’re continuously working to improve and create safe and inclusive spaces for women Veterans, the fastest growing demographic group today. We’re determined to bring an end to homelessness for all Veterans, including the women who have bravely served our country.
