NEW: Motivational
Interviewing May 15, 2024, at 1:00 pm EST
The VA’s Homeless
Programs Office, National Center on Homelessness among Veterans, in
collaboration with VHA’s Institute for Learning, Education and Development are
hosting training for Motivational Interviewing. Homeless
and underhoused Veterans experience a myriad of problems that require
significant behavioral changes to meet their goals. A common problem related to
behavioral change is that of ambivalence. People often get stuck in making
changes because they feel two ways about it. The gold-standard treatment for
ambivalence is Motivational Interviewing (MI), a robustly evidence-based
treatment. This webinar will serve as an introduction and overview of MI
with special emphasis on working with homeless and underhoused Veterans.
If you are external to
the VA or Non-VA staff you must have a registered TRAIN account AND
register for training in TRAIN PRIOR to commencing training, failure to do
so will result in CEUs not being awarded.

Collaborative Case Management Guidance Updated
The National HUD-VASH
and SSVF Program Offices have developed updated guidance regarding
Collaborative Case Management. This guidance should assist communities to
understand and work towards collaborative case management models, versus
traditional and allowable co-enrollments between HUD-VASH and SSVF.
Please review the revised documents to assess local needs and collaborations
that will support Veterans with access to permanent housing within your communities.
If you have additional questions, please contact your Regional Coordinator.
