Subject: Special Program Update: SSVF Resources May 7, 2024
Dear
SSVF Grantees,
It
was so wonderful to be with your leadership teams during our Leader to Leader
call in April and then to see 36 communities in person during the OneTeam4Vets
Conference. As we enter the month of May, our team is looking forward to being
with you during our SSVF National Webinar this week. I know that we are all
learning together, and I want us to have space to learn and grow. I’m hearing
that grantees are stating that they do not have funds available. This is
concerning, and I have shared messaging on this topic previously via regional
updates, national webinars, and targeted support from our team. I need us to
rally around the information below. We are here to support you. If you need
help or have questions, please reach out to your Regional Coordinator. Being
accessible to Veterans and Veteran families and focusing on housing are our
primary goals. I believe in you. Let’s do this.
SSVF
continues to have high levels of available funding to provide all SSVF services
based on individualized Veteran household need. We have received reports that
grantees are messaging they are “out of funds”. Grantees should not be in this
situation since we are just beginning to spend FY24 funds on a condensed budget
cycle. Please ensure you are not messaging being “out of funds” to your
partners or Veterans and Veteran families. Please coordinate with your fiscal
staff and communicate with your Regional Coordinator (RC) regarding local need
and spending projections. If you need financial strategy technical assistance,
please email your RC and include your grant number. The current funding status
and financial guidance allows SSVF grantees to focus on ensuring all Veterans
receive the services and supports needed to be permanently housed.
