Dr. Nichol Salvo is the podiatry section chief at the Atlanta VA Health Care System.
Dr. Salvo completed a Bachelor of Science degree in biology at Ashland University. She went on to earn her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine in 2004 and is a 2007 graduate of the Atlanta VAHCS residency program. She is double board-certified with the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (ABFAS) and the American Board of Podiatric Medicine (ABPM). She is active with ABPM, serving as their representative to the Podiatry Residency Resource Board and the Collaborative Residency Evaluator Committee of the Council on Podiatric Medical Education (CPME). Dr. Salvo represents both ABPM and ABFAS as a residency training program site evaluator. In addition to her section chief responsibilities, Dr. Salvo is the chair of the VHA Podiatry Field Advisory Board (FAB) and directs the Atlanta VAHCS High-risk Eye & Limb Preservation Program (HELPP). HELPP has been instrumental at maximizing telemedicine for podiatry and is an integral part of amputation prevention measures within the Atlanta VAHCS.
