“This gathering is our way of showing appreciation to those who have supported the special needs community,” Drayton said.

Veterans, volunteers, and supporters gathered Thursday at the Atlanta VA Health Care System inside the Center for Development and Civic Engagement (CDCE) for a special initiative organized by the House of Artist Foundation. The event featured free gift bags for military Veterans, teachers, first responders, and grandparents, recognizing their contributions to the special needs community. Ashley Drayton, founder of the House of Artist Foundation, explained the organization’s mission to empower autistic youth and adults through creative arts careers and independent living skills.

“This gathering is our way of showing appreciation to those who have supported the special needs community,” Drayton said.

The foundation’s collaboration with the Joseph Maxwell Cleland VA Medical Center underscored its commitment to fostering connections between veterans and the broader community. The initiative aimed to celebrate shared efforts in promoting inclusivity and creative opportunities for individuals with autism.

Gwendolyn Ramos, with the VA’s Center for Development and Civic Engagement, praised the partnership: “Collaborating with the House of Artist Foundation allows us to explore new ways of supporting veterans while building bridges with organizations that share our vision of empowerment and inclusion.”
