Bay Pines , FL — Today, Bay Pines VA Healthcare System Director/CEO Paul M. Russo was joined by leadership from the healthcare system’s Fisher House team to accept a donation of more than $19,000 from organizers of the Venetian Veterans Golf Tournament.
“Our mission is to raise money and support Veterans in the process of doing that; we hope to get better at both each year,” said Ken Deen, chairman, Veterans Charity Committee, Venetian Golf and River Club. “The Fisher House stands out because the Veterans are so appreciative of it. They cherish the fact that their families get taken care of too. The Fisher House is a special organization and I’m proud we’re able to contribute to it.”
The Fisher House Foundation was established in 1990 by Zachary and Elizabeth Fisher to provide temporary accommodations at no cost to family members of hospitalized Veterans and active-duty military. Bay Pines VA has proudly served Veterans’ loved ones since 2002, via the original Fisher House. In October 2023, they opened the doors to their second Fisher House and the leadership looks forward to expanding on the comfort they offer.
“We are so grateful for the support of organizations like the Venetian Golf Club. This donation will have a lasting impact on so many Veterans and their families,” said Shentrela Diggins, Fisher House Manager, Bay Pines VA Fisher House. “Veterans deserve the absolute best, and there is no better way to honor their service than by caring for the people they hold most dear.”
