National Salute Week
Donations and events at Coatesville VAMC during the week of February 14 celebrate Veterans who are cared for at the Coatesville campus and their outpatient clinics in Newtown Square and West Norriton as part of National Salute to Veteran Patients Week.
National Salute Week provides an opportunity for Veterans groups, civic organizations, businesses, schools, and individuals to express their appreciation by volunteering, donating and sponsoring activities for resident and inpatient Veterans.
U.S. Representative Chrissy Houlahan, who represents Pennsylvania's 6th District in Congress, stopped by to speak to a group of Veterans and handed out a few of the valentines she collected.
Bookwell Travel funded and coordinated a generous donation of 750 winter jackets to Coatesville VAMC and additional coat donations were made to the VA medical centers in Philadelphia and Wilmington.
Veteran Service Organizations sponsored special events when they funded two meal deliveries on Tuesday and Friday for Veterans currently receiving care at Coatesville VAMC.
In addition to donations and as a compliment to in-person volunteer assignments, VA also provides volunteers with virtual and remote assignments such as the Compassionate Contact Corps which allows volunteers to safely stay in contact with a matched homebound Veteran during the pandemic.
If you are interested in discovering the wonderful things you or your group can do to salute America's heroes anytime of the year through donations or volunteering, contact Coatesville VAMC's Volunteer Coordinator, Gina Cybator at 610-384-7711, extension 4900 or email gina.cybator@va.gov.
