Why VA Houston: While searching for PGY-2 programs, MEDVAMC came across as one of my options to complete my PGY-2 program in Infectious Diseases. I have always wanted to be trained in a Veterans Affairs and Teaching Academical Medical Center. As my interests include HIV and multidrug-resistant organisms, the variety of rotations offered, including electives, especially the HIV/ID Outpatient Clinic, ID Intensive Care Unit, Outpatient Antimicrobial Therapy, and Academia, would give me the opportunity amongst my interests.
The program outline, such as the presentation opportunities, staffing model, multidisciplinary approach, the interesting ID cases I knew I was about to be immersed in, and the teaching philosophy were also a decision factor in choosing this program as I knew it was going train and molded me to become a greatest Infectious Diseases Pharmacist Specialist.
