Why VA Houston: As I was looking into residency programs, the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center (MEDVAMC) really stood out to me as a program where I could spend the next year learning and thriving due to its supportive environment. My interactions with the Residency Program Director, preceptors, and current residents were incredibly positive—they were not only welcoming but also genuinely interested in helping residents grow professionally and personally.
Additionally, MEDVAMC is unique as one of the few facilities within the Texas Medical Center that offers both inpatient and outpatient pharmacy practice. This diverse range of practice settings provides an exceptional learning environment where I can develop a well-rounded skill set in various aspects of patient care. Overall, the combination of a great team atmosphere, comprehensive training opportunities, and a commitment to education makes MEDVAMC an ideal place for me as a learner to develop and excel in my pharmacy career.
