Michael Weld DNP, MN, RN

He oversees 8 Nursing Services, including Ambulatory Care, CLC/GEC, Critical Care, Flow/Operations, Medicine, Mental Health, Education, and Surgery. Dr. Weld attained the Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) in 2018. His Master of Nursing-Health Systems & Organizational Leadership (2016) and Bachelor of Science, Nursing (2011) degrees are also from OHSU. His first nursing degree was an Associate of Applied Sciences, Nursing from Rogue Community College (go Ospreys!) in 2010. Dr. Weld is Board Certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Registered Nurse by the ANCC.

Prior to arriving at VA Loma Linda, Dr. Weld was Detailed as Associate Chief of Staff for Mental Health at VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System (ECHCS) from July 2020-April 2021. He served as Chief Nurse for Mental Health at ECHCS from June 2018-July 2020. Dr. Weld’s first VA appointment in May 2014 was as Nurse Manager/Program Manager for the Mental Health Residential Treatment Programs at the VA Southern Oregon Rehabilitation Center and Clinics in White City Oregon (VA SORCC). VA SORCC is the nation’s largest MH/SUD residential treatment program, with as many as 525 beds during Dr. Weld’s tenure. He has previous experience as Program Director of community-based Residential MH Treatment Facilities in Oregon, in addition to positions as a Military Behavioral Health Case Manager at Ft Hood Texas and in community-based mental health crisis programs. Dr. Weld has extensive management and leadership experience in several fields, including production/manufacturing, business, and healthcare. He has 20-plus years of experience in Lean Six Sigma methodologies. Dr. Weld is a veteran of the U.S. Navy Submarine Service.
