Coffee with Caregivers

The Marion, IL VA Caregiver Support Program (CSP) was blessed to host special “Coffee with Caregivers” events (one in Marion, one in Evansville) to provide an opportunity for CSP Veterans and Caregivers to meet their Marion VA Executive Team. 

The idea for this heartwarming initiative came from Marion VA, Executive Director , Mr. Zach Sage. He wanted to meet some of our local Veterans and their families to host meaningful conversations with them in a relaxing environment. We were able to connect with over 30 families.

“Our program caregivers deeply appreciate the services Caregivers Support Program provides.  We also connected several caregivers with new resources, including Annie Text and REACH sessions. It was an extremely successful event enjoyed by all.  Our Vets and Caregivers really appreciated the time with our Executive leadership as well,” shares Ashley Baity, Caregiver Support Program manager.

Caregivers and Veterans learned about CSP resources, enjoyed refreshments, and participated in valuable open discussion with the Caregiver Support team and their Executive Director, Mr. Zachary Sage. These events were very successful and rewarding for all involved! 

“A request we haven’t heard yet, but did at our Evansville Health Care Center location is that those Veterans want more opportunities to meet with other Veterans, helping reduce that isolation, and could also serve as a respite opportunity for the caregivers.” – Ashely Baity, Caregiver Support Program Manager.
