Helping Veterans stay connected to their care
Our Minneapolis VA Volunteer of the Month, David Mandt, is a shining example of selflessness and dedication to helping his fellow Veterans.
An Army Veteran himself, Dave has volunteered at the My HealtheVet desk for over eleven years, accumulating an impressive 937 hours of service. He is the sole volunteer on Monday afternoons and has played an instrumental role in assisting Veterans with signing up for My HealtheVet and navigating the website.
When asked about his favorite part of volunteering, Dave shared, "It's the interaction with the Veterans. They're a bunch of good guys, some who've had a hard life. Being able to connect with them and offer support is what makes this experience so rewarding."
With recent changes to the login requirements for My HealtheVet, including the introduction of credential management systems like LOGIN.gov and ID.me, Dave has been an invaluable resource for Veterans navigating these updates.
"Learning this complex stuff can be a long and difficult task, but it's a challenge I'm willing to take on to help others," said Dave.
His commitment to helping Veterans is evident in the nomination submitted on his behalf he has received. He has been described as "kind, patient, and conscientious," with many Veterans expressing their gratitude for his guidance in understanding the My HealtheVet website and technology.
As our Volunteer of the Month, Dave's unwavering dedication to his fellow Veterans is an inspiration to us all. Congratulations, Dave, and thank you for your continued service to our nation's heroes!
