A message from our Chief Nursing Officer
The World Health Assembly (WHO) has designated 2020 the International Year of the Nurse and Midwife in Honor of Florence Nightingale’s 200th birthday. The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) is honored to join nurses all over the world in this celebration. In partnership with the WHO, the American Nurses Association (ANA), and many national professional nursing organizations we are celebrating and honoring nursing professionals across the continuum. It is my pleasure to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the VHA nursing workforce that is over one hundred thousand nurses strong and committed to advancing nursing and transforming healthcare for Veterans.
As we embark on this year of celebration, we are joined together as a community of nurses dedicated to Veteran centered healthcare, sharing our stories as we celebrate the academic excellence, scientific contributions, quality of care delivery, and the compassion provided by our outstanding VHA nursing workforce.
