Sara Trigero MD

She attended medical school at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine and completed her Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Colorado, Denver. Dr. Trigero conducted rotations at VA facilities during her medical school and residency programs and upon graduation, she worked as a nocturnist for the VA Eastern Colorado Health System and a Clinical Instructor for the University of Colorado. Dr. Trigero joined the Primary Care team at VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System in 2015 as an Ambulatory Care Physician. She became Deputy Chief for Ambulatory Care in 2016 and was promoted to the Associate Chief of Staff, Ambulatory Care in 2019, where she worked until 2021. In September 2021, Dr. Trigero moved into the Acting Chief of Staff position for the VASNHCS. Dr. Trigero is Adjunct and Assistant Professor with the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine. She is currently pursuing certification in Obesity Medicine and is board eligible. Dr. Trigero grew up in Reno and has strong ties to the area. Her family owns a ranch in central Nevada that was established in 1917 when her great-grandparents immigrated from Spain. Her grandfather was a WWII Veteran and her father is a Vietnam Veteran who currently uses VA for his health care.
