The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs unveiled a new VA clinic in Corpus Christi, Texas, in a ceremony on Thursday, August 31.

The new VA facility, Corpus Christi West Point VA Clinic, housed at 925 South Padre Island Drive, replaces the existing Corpus Christi Outpatient Clinic, and allows for expansion and to serve the growing Veteran population of the coastal bend region.

“Veterans, their families, caregivers, and survivors have served and sacrificed for our country, and now, it’s our job to serve them as well as they’ve served us,” VA Heart of Texas Healthcare Network Director Dr. Wendell Jones said. “All Veterans deserve timely access to world-class health care and earned benefits, and we will never settle for anything less.”

VA broke ground in 2021 for the new facility, which was designed by Hoefer Wysocki.

“The Corpus Christi West Point VA Clinic includes 65,000 square feet of net usable space and collocates primary care, blood draw, our U.S. Department of House and Urban Development-VA Supportive Housing, or HUD-VASH Program, and imaging services under one roof to provide a one-stop shop for Veterans served,” VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System Director Homero S. Martinez, III, said. “This clinic was also designed to feature numerous green initiatives.”

The clinic is also designated as a Purple Heart facility, honoring the Veteran heroes who have received this prestigious distinction.

“Veterans, not us, are the ultimate judges of our success,” Martinez said. “We at VA will stop at nothing to serve every Veteran as well as they have served us.”
