UPDATED! Invitation to a PACT Act Summer VetFest event set for July 13
UPDATED TIME! Veterans/families are invited to Jonathan M. Wainwright VA’s upcoming PACT Act Summer VetFest event still set for Saturday, July 13, NOW HAPPENING FROM 9 A.M. to NOON on the VA parade grounds. Come earlier to BEAT THE HEAT!
The Jonathan M. Wainwright Memorial VA Medical Center is reaching out to Veterans far and wide to share important information related to the PACT Act by holding multiple events, including this summer event. Warmer temperatures will not detract from the information and activities being planned for that day!
SAME DAY/EARLIER TIME TO BEAT THE HEAT: July 13 from 9 a.m. - Noon
Activities include:
- A show & shine car show featuring a variety of old/vintage cars
- Local Veteran, Bob Brock, will have his Patriot Convoy on site
- Music provided by The Trifocals, playing bluegrass, classic rock, country and more
- Come play BINGO (with a chance to win a prize)
- Participate in a tai chi demonstration for better whole health
- Activities for the children provided by YWCA’s summer program FUN FACTORY (there will be Twister too)
- Blue Mountain Humane Society will bring some animals to pet along with info on their Pets for Patriots program.
Lunch will be provided free to attendees, plus plenty of water!
There will be lots of information available for Veterans related to the PACT Act, and more. Veterans Benefits Administration staff will be on hand to assist Veterans with PACT Act and other claims questions. Additionally, Jonathan M. Wainwright VA program offices and community agencies will be available to share their program information and answer questions.
The event is a result of VA’s announcement on February 26 that all Veterans who were exposed to toxins or other hazards while serving in the military – at home or abroad – became eligible to enroll directly in VA health care beginning March 5, 2024. This means that all Veterans who served in the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, Iraq, Afghanistan, the Global War on Terror or any other combat zone after 9/11 will be eligible to enroll directly in VA health care without first applying for VA benefits. Additionally, Veterans who never deployed but were exposed to toxins or hazards while training or on active duty in the United States will also be eligible to enroll.
Our goal is to reach out to as many Veterans as possible to share this important information with them. If you are a Veteran and want more to know more information, please plan on coming to our event. Please share this announcement and the flyer (find the flyer image on our VA Facebook page) with Veterans you know. Veterans can learn more at www.VA.gov/PACT.
