West Palm Beach VA announces new Chief of Medicine

West Palm Beach , FL — The West Palm Beach VA Health Care System (WPBVAHCS) announces the appointment of Dr. James B. Post, MD, as the new Chief of Medicine for the West Palm Beach VA Healthcare System (WPBVAHCS) effective September 9, 2024. 

Dr. Post joins the WPBVAHCS from the James J. Peters VA Medical Center, Bronx, NY, where his career began in 2003 specializing in Clinical Nephrology. Dr. Post served as the Deputy Chief of Staff and Chief of Internal Medicine, where he played key roles in emergency management for the acute inpatient medicine service throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

His portfolio includes a Bachelor of Science (BS) in biology from King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, PA., and a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Albert Einstein College of Medicine Bronx, NY. In addition to his education, Dr. Post was an Associate Professor of Medicine, Nephrology Division, and Associate Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, NY. 

As a physician-scientist he earned a VA Career Development Award to study the impact of chronic intermittent hemodialysis on cognition. He is a graduate of the VISN 3 Leadership Development Program, a member of the Medical Executive Committee, and takes pride in the legacy he has established through teaching and mentored many students and staff throughout his career.

The WPBVAHCS is excited for the wealth of knowledge and expertise Dr. Post will bring to South Florida Veterans.
