Michael B.
Michael completed a combat tour in Iraq with the Marines, during which his unit was ambushed nearly once a day. His second deployment to Iraq was focused on interrogations of detainees. After returning from his second deployment, Michael was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. He had never heard of it, but he tried to learn as much about it as he could. After separating from military service, Michael struggled with his PTSD and insomnia. He often used alcohol to cope with his anxiety and sleeplessness, and he developed acute pancreatitis. Michael tried going back to school, but had a difficult time concentrating and fitting in. He finds great comfort from taking care of his dog.
