Project Director
Gala True, PhD is Project Director of From War to Home. She is an Investigator with the South Central Mental Illness Research and Education Center and the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care Network. She is also Research Associate Professor at the Tulane University School of Medicine. Gala’s research focus is on improving access to care and the health of individuals and communities through patient-centered and community-engaged research approaches. From War to Home grew out of her participatory action research with Veterans and other key stakeholders on identifying barriers to post-deployment care and proposing solutions for improving community reintegration after separation from military service.
We developed this website to share Veterans’ photos and narratives from the exhibit From War to Home with a wider audience. Essential contributions came from Erica Goldberg, Mary Pelak, and Lorrie Walker. Anneliese Butler served as the initial Project Manager for From War to Home dissemination. Thanks also to Rich Moore and Naci Powell.
