A group of special West Virginia women carefully gathered at the Beckley VA Medical Center to decorate a significant tree, one meant to honor and remember their sons and daughters who lost their lives while serving in the United States military.

It was a fluke. In 2013 RN Sherri Burleson felt something unusual while showering. It was a sizeable lump in her breast. Sherri quickly sought medical care, first getting an ultrasound and then a biopsy, which confirmed it was cancer.
