Become a Volunteer
VA Central California Health Care System depends on the goodwill of donors and volunteers who want to give something back to America's heroes. Volunteers provide much-needed help throughout the health care system and make patients' experiences more enjoyable. Many different volunteer opportunities are available, and each volunteer's talents are closely matched with one of our assignments.

Make a donation
Donations provide for the increasing needs of the Veterans we serve. All donations are tax-deductible.
Types of donations
Monetary – for the purchase of items to address emergent, critical needs or therapeutic activities for Veterans that VA cannot use appropriated funding for, such as:
- Grocery gift cards
- Clothing
- Patient activities (gardening, bowling, creative arts, etc.)
- Refreshments for patient activities
- National Games, Adaptive Sports, and Creative Arts Festival
- Transportation to participate in National Games, Adaptive Sports, and Creative Arts Festival
Non-monetary items:
- Hygiene items
- Puzzle books/Color Books
- Pens/Pencils/Colored marker or pencil sets
- Greeting Cards/Letters
- New clothing, socks and underwear
- Gifts/Cards for special occasions, national observances, and birthdays
- Planners/Appointment books
