As we celebrate Independence Day here along the Mississippi, Alabama and Florida Gulf Coast, I want to express my gratitude to the millions of men and women who have served our nation during times of peace and conflict.

As we prepare to celebrate a relatively new federal holiday this weekend - Juneteenth, also known as Emancipation Day - I encourage each and every one of you to take a moment and reflect on the significant struggles we as a nation have faced, both centuries ago and today.
