The mission of VHA Vocational Rehabilitation is to promote recovery for Veterans living with mental illness or physical impairment, with barriers to employment, who want to secure and maintain meaningful community-based competitive employment that fosters self-esteem, dignity, respect, and independence through high-quality vocational rehabilitation services.

  • Transitional Work provides work restoration services in actual work settings by matching veterans’ skills and interest with a specific job, providing vocational supports and resources needed for a veteran to successfully transition to competitive employment.
  • Supported Employment provides long-term support for Veterans with serious mental illnesses or physical disabilities to help them compete for jobs in their communities.  Supported employment offers a full range of vocational services, including but not limited to, ongoing vocational assessments, benefits counseling, rapid/individualized job search, job development and placement, assertive engagement, and follow-along supports.
