Text Alternative for US Military Branches Diagram

This diagram is split into three different levels with a cumulative number of eight boxes. Each level falls under the other representing three hierarchial levels of the US military and branches.

LEVEL 1:
Headed by the Secretary of Defense, Civilian Appointed by President

Box 1: Department of Defense
One line exits box 1 and enters Level 2 box 2, box 3, and box 4.

LEVEL 2:
Each department is headed by a Secretary (e.g., Secretary of the Navy), Civilian Appointed by President

Box 2: Department of the Army
On line enters box 2 from box 1. One line exits box 2 and enters Level 3, box 5.

Box 3: Department of the Air Force
One line enters box 3 from box 1. One line exits box 3 and enters Level 3, box 6.

Box 4: Department of the Navy
One line enters box 4 from box 1. One line exits box 4 and enters Level 3, connecting box 7 and box 8.

LEVEL 3:
Each Branch is headed by a Mililtary 4-star General or Admiral, collectively known as the Joint Chiefs of Staff

Box 5: Army. Army Chief of Staff
One line enters box 5 from Level 2, box 2. No lines exit box 5.

Box 6: Air Force. Air Force Chief of Staff
One line enters box 6 from Level 2, box 3. No lines exit box 6.

Box 7: Navy. Chief of Naval Operations
One line enters box 7 from Level 2, box 4. No lines exit box 7.

Box 8: Marines. Commandant of the Marine Corps
One line enters box 8 from Level 2, box 4. No lines exit box 8.
