How to Apply
Each GRECC site has specific focus areas, and applicants should apply to the site or sites that best match their training interests. The site websites listed on the “Site Locations” tab provide information about each GRECC site that can be helpful in determining which sites are the best fit. Prospective applicants are encouraged to reach out to the Coordinating Center (VHAAFIG@va.gov), who is available to consult with prospective applicants about the focus areas and training options for each site, as well as provide contact information for each site’s leadership.
Application Process
- Applications are managed locally at each site. The process generally starts with a conversation with the host site about applicant career goals, project interests, and how those align with local opportunities.
- Applicants are then informed by the local site about specific documents needed to apply (e.g., curriculum vitae, letters of recommendation).
- If the applicant is tentatively selected by a local site’s program leadership, the applicant submits documents and credentials that are verified through the local facility’s Education Department and completes standard screening procedures through the Human Resources Department. Passing these standard screening procedures is required to be appointed as a fellow.
- The site’s Program Director communicates with the Office of Academic Affiliations to arrange approval of the appointment.
