- Research Interests
- Dr. Melzer is a pulmonary and critical care physician with a background in health services research. She is a core investigator at the Center for Care Delivery and Outcomes Research, a VA Research Center of Innovation. She is interested in lung cancer prevention and early detection. Her research is focused on 1) promoting smoking cessation for patients with chronic lung diseases and who are at high risk of lung cancer and 2) improving the quality of systematic early lung cancer detection programs, including lung cancer screening. Apart from her clinical and research work, she is engaged in advocacy efforts to support tobacco control.
