Academic Affiliations
In addition to VA research programs and centers, the Minneapolis VA Health Care System Research Service maintains active engagement with other programs through our primary academic affiliate, the University of Minnesota. These programs include:

- University of Minnesota Clinical & Translational Science Institute
Center for Veteran's Research & Education
Our program is partnered by the Center for Veteran's Research & Education (CVRE). CVRE is one of 80+ nonprofit corporations (NPCs) throughout the VA system. These NPCs were authorized by Congress in the 1980's to provide a mechanism by which VA investigators can accept research awards from non-VA sources including DoD, NIH, and industry. CVRE is a member of the National Association of Veterans' Research and Education Foundations (NAVREF).
CVRE is registered as a 501c3 in Minnesota and is located in a suite adjacent to the Research Office at the Minneapolis VAHCS. Minneapolis VAHCS' Chief of Staff and Associate Chief of Staff for Research, serve as CVRE's Board president and vice-president, respectively.
