- Research Interests
- Dr. Kotz's training and background are in basic science obesity research. Her Ph.D. research was done in the area of neuropeptide regulation of feeding and energy expenditure, including effects on circulating hormones and enzymatic activity in white and brown adipose tissue. Dr. Kotz's current research program centers on obesity and metabolic aspects of aging, focusing on targeting central nervous system pathways to promote healthy body weight. Dr. Kotz also studies the impact of obesity and metabolic function on learning and memory outcomes in normal aging and during neurodegeneration, and strives to develop therapies to improve cognition.
