- Research Interests
- Dr. Drekonja's research interests include urinary tract infections (specifically those in men), C. difficile infection, and antimicrobial stewardship. He has led VA-funded trials of treatment duration for men with urinary tract infections and Veterans with C. difficile infection. He serves as section chief of the infectious diseases section at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System, and is Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Minnesota. He also enjoys mentoring trainees seeking an introduction to medical research, including undergraduates, medical students, and post-graduate trainees. Outside of medicine, his interests are reading (mostly non-fiction), running, alpine skiing, and mountain biking.
