- My research is focused on Gulf War Illness (GWI), a debilitating and unexplained chronic multi-symptom disorder. The latest estimate is that 44% of the 693,826 US military personnel who served in the First Gulf War (1990-91) suffer from GWI. Thus, GWI represents a very significant health problem for our Veterans.
