VA Valley Coastal Bend hires three former HPTs
Three residents at the VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System were recently hired to serve as full-time primary care providers after finishing their rotations at the McAllen Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC).
According to Dr. Michael Reeder, Associate Chief of Staff for Education for the VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System, having three residents from the same program join VA’s team in one year is uncommon for the facility’s size. The three physicians are: Dr. Corey Fuentes, Dr. Saul Ruvalcaba, and Dr. Roberto Valledor.
“It is a testament to our site director, Dr. Abdias Brazier, and to the collaborative partnership we have with our affiliate, which helps the local community, grows our health care system, and enhances the care of our Veterans,” said Reeder.
Reeder said the ability to provide care for Veterans at VA Valley Coastal Bend is expanded by having residents like these work alongside VA clinical staff in their CBOCs.
“We hope they enjoy working at the VA and then join us as colleagues,” said Reeder. “That is one of the ultimate goals of our program, along with providing quality health care for our nation’s Veterans.”
