OAL Offices
The Office of Acquisition and Logistics is comprised of 4 major organizational components which allow us to support Department’s administrations and staff offices so they can accomplish their missions. We also provide oversight responsibility on behalf of the Secretary to ensure VA complies with laws, policies and directions from execution branch partners, such as the Office of Management and Budget, Department of Treasury, General Services Administration, Government Accountability Office, and Congress.
Office of Acquisition Program Support
Provides executive direction for acquisition efforts focused on workforce development, human resources liaison requirements, facilities and emergency preparedness.
- Acquisition Human Capital Management Service » responsible for devising and implementing various Congressional, Federal and Departmental initiatives to enhance and promote the professional development of VA’s acquisition workforce.
- Human Resources Office » Supports the Office of Acquisition, Logistics, and Construction by providing expertise and guidance in Human Resources Mnagement.
Office of Procurement Policy, Systems and Oversight
Responsible for management and oversight of VA’s acquisition system; training and warranting of its acquisition work force; and analytical support for its procurement programs.
- Procurement Policy and Warrant Management Service » Responsible for all Procurement Policy matters at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)
- Procurement Guidance and Instruction Service » Provides accurate, innovative, courteous and timely procurement guidance to the VA Acquisition Community.
- Risk Management and Compliance Service » Provides expert oversight and risk assessment to the VA Acquisition Community.
- Enterprise Acquisition Systems Service » Provide consistent, modern, integrated procurement automation tools to the VA acquisition community.
Office of Logistics and Supply Chain Management
The Logistics and Supply Chain Management staff are responsible for VA logistics policy development, enforcement, coordination, and training.
VA Acquisition Academy
Recognized as an industry leader in training and development for the Federal Acquisition workforce through our five professional schools.
- Contracting Professional School » Provides core courses necessary to obtain the Federal Acquisition Certification in Contracting (FAC-C) Levels I, II, and III.
- Program Management School » Provides training necessary to certify all federal government program and project managers.
- Acquisition Internship School » Develops future generations of trusted business advisors in contracting for the VA.
- Facilities Management School » Provides the VA Acquisition workforce with the courses necessary to demonstrate the core facilities management competencies outlined in Public Law 111-308.
- Supply Chain Management School » Provide a training curriculum to address five general competencies and sixteen technical competencies of Supply Chain Management.
