Douglas Fournet Department of Veterans Affairs Clinic
Lake Charles CBOC opened in August 2017, offering primary care, mental health services, dental, audiology, radiology (x-ray only), optometry, physical medicine and rehabilitation, prosthetics, & laboratory (basic specimen testing). In November 2019, the clinic was renamed the Douglas Fournet VA Clinic. 1st Lt. Douglas Fournet, a Lake Charles native, died in Vietnam in a firefight while protecting his fellow soldiers by using his body as a shield. He received the Medal of Honor "for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty."
