VA Presents: Ending Veteran Homelessness Editorial Roundtables
Reporters are invited to join VA officials and leading subject matters for periodic teleconferences on issues related to ending homelessness among Veterans. Each one-hour editorial roundtable session begins with brief remarks and is followed by a lengthy question-and-answer session.

VA and Nongovernment Partners Implement Creative, Customized Solutions for Ending Veteran Homelessness
Tuesday, May 16, 2017, 12–1 p.m. EST
Partnerships with locally based organizations provide an opportunity for custom, creative, and agile approaches to solving Veteran homelessness that make VA programs even more effective at the local level. During this roundtable, representatives from PenFed Foundation, Veterans Matter, and Salute, Inc. discussed how organizations and businesses of various types and sizes are helping to house, employ, and serve homeless and at-risk Veterans in their communities. Panelists also explained how other organizations can help prevent and end homelessness among Veterans.

Ending Veteran Homelessness Through Community Partnerships

Partnerships play a critical role in ending Veteran homelessness community by community. Discussing the role of partnerships and other best practices, this roundtable featured representatives from New Orleans and Virginia, respectively the first city and state to have met federal guidelines in ending Veteran homelessness, and Team AMVETS, a California-based nonprofit that collaborates with VA and others to provide Veterans exiting homelessness with furniture and move-in essentials.

Stable Housing and Supportive Services for Veterans Exiting Homelessness

A supportive services roundtable focused on the renewal of Supportive Services for Veteran Families grants, which are provided to nonprofits to deliver stable housing and supportive services to Veterans exiting homelessness.

About VA’s Initiative to End Veteran Homelessness
In late 2009, the White House and VA announced an ambitious goal to end Veteran homelessness. The plan to address this urgent national priority was outlined in 2010’s Opening Doors, the first-ever federal strategic plan to end Veteran homelessness. These moves galvanized federal, state and local actions to prevent Veterans from becoming homeless and help those who are homeless become stably housed as quickly as possible.
