Dalfampridine (Ampyra)
Dalfampridine (Ampyra) is an oral medication, taken every 12 hours, to improve walking in patients with MS. Dalfampridine is a broad spectrum potassium channel blocker. In animal studies, dalfampridine has been shown to increase conduction of action potentials in demyelinated axons through inhibition of potassium channels. Dalfampridine is available in brand name (Ampyra) and in generic.
