Pain Management, Opioid Safety and Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PMOP) - Overview
In 2020, PMOP moved with Specialty Care under Clinical Services and now assumes all operational oversight and responsibilities. This Pain Management Program Office expansion includes Opioid Safety and the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP), and is now the Pain Management, Opioid Safety, and PDMP (PMOP).
The Pain Management, Opioid Safety, and PDMP (PMOP) Office provides guidance and funding to support implementation of Pain and Opioid Safety initiatives, including legislative mandates and oversight requirements related to:
- CARA legislation 2016/Jason Simcakoski Memorial and Promise Act (Jason’s Law)
- MISSION Act 2018 (includes PDMP in Section 134)
- Joint Commission Standards for Pain Management (2018)
- Government Accountability Office (GAO)
- Office of Inspector General (OIG)
- Office of the National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP)
