For Providers - Specific Population

Certain populations require special considerations for “best care." Recognizing that pain is one of the most frequent reasons a patient may see a physician, it is important to recognize the healthcare disparities in managing pain as well as the barriers to providing appropriate treatment for pain.  Understanding differences and obstacles can aid in evaluating and improving upon the practices of pain management.

Helping specific populations manage their pain, requires special considerations regarding the types of medications and strategies. Pain management in specific populations will take on progressively greater importance.
