GHATP 2024 Cohort Launch and 2025 Application
The Institute for Learning, Education and Development’s (ILEAD) Employee and Leadership Development Service Line hosted its fiscal year 2024 (FY24) cohort launch of the Graduate Healthcare Administration Training Program (GHATP), now in its 28th year of program administration. As a proven training program, ILEAD is proud to mention that several VHA medical center directors have started their VHA career in this very program.
GHATP is an intensive employee development program that gives trainees opportunities to learn from, and interact directly with, VHA health care administrators and support professionals inside a VHA facility director’s office. Trainees work side-by-side with leaders of state-of-the-art health care facilities, expanding the breadth and depth of their knowledge of health care management to prepare for management positions within VA organizations. This one-year training begins with an application through USAJobs and leads to permanent placement in the Health System Administration 0671 series (GS-9/equivalent).
The fiscal year 2025 (FY25) cohort application period is open now through July 2, 2024. Employees interested in joining the FY25 GHATP cohort should review USAJobs for job postings. It is recommended to create an account in USAJobs and use the ongoing search and alert features to receive updates as GHATP announcements are posted. Here are instructions on how to search and setup an alert.
Annual cohorts average around 50 attendees from VHA offices all around the U.S. The FY24 cohort, hosting a record 72 attendees, started their 12-month training session on Oct. 30 in New Orleans, Louisiana, where they studied Leadership 101, the first in-person event where they worked on basic leadership competencies.
